Kandinsky

Whilst in London, I went to a Kandinsky Exhibition at the Tate Modern. I have been fascinated by this painter ever since first seeing the movie "Six Degrees of Separation" where they talk about his 'swinging' painting (two canvases joined together back to back, radically different).

This exhibition was based on his early work, with around 50 paintings and sketches. It was fabulous to see the transition from his very early, almost realistic work to the more abstract colourful creations that he is known for.

I was particularly taken by the fact that he was so inspired by music and called many of his early abstract work 'improvisations' and 'compositions'.
